Dolomitic Limestone 1 Year, 7 Months ago Karma: 0
Hi,
I recently purchased some ground dolomitic limestone from garden center. I thought it was regular limestone to use to counter-act any acidic areas. I don't want to add it to bins without checking. Does anyone know if this is okay? Anyone used it before?

I've read somewhere that one should check the lable or tag on the bag and if it has more than 0.o4% phosphorous it could be harmful. I use calcium carbonate on mine and apply a very thin covering about once per week and then turn it in. My ph stays at 6.5 to 7. The price is very reaspnable at a feed and grain store.

Is it sold as just calcium carbonate?

It should have about 50 to 55% of calcium carbonate in it, you should be able to get the info. off of the bag.

Thanks mikel! That was really informative post. I missed it somehow. I checked the bag and it is 50% Calcium carbonate and magnesium too. I appreciate your help!
