I usually check in on my worms daily unless I'm out of town. If I have recently added new worms I check on them more often to make sure they are settling in.

It seems that I need to leave my worms alone. I think I was messing with them too much, (daily) and it seemed that their numbers were decreasing.

It seems that when I leave them alone, only checking for food levels, they do MUCH better.

I usually leave them alone. I just check to see if they need food or misting the top with water.

I also look for early warning signs of something going wrong such as food consumption suddenly dropping, dead worms on top of bedding or worms crawling around on top of bedding despite bright light over them.

Once a week, I water them more often but I "check" them once a week or two. They like to be left alone.
