You have three options:

Option 1- If possible, remove as much as possible and hope the worms eat what's left. This should also lessen souring or heating.
Option 2- Replace the bedding.
Option 3- Nothing & hope for the best. I used this option without realizing it a few years ago. I didn't realize that a friend that was getting us out worms for fishing had mixed the chicken layer crumbles( processed fine) into the bedding. So I refed them that night not realizing what had happened, I thought they had just eaten it. Two or three days later massive worm deaths and worms escaping. He no longer gets the worms out for fishing after I figured out what had happened. Needless to say use this option at your own risk.

Ya i removed alot of the food.

Right now theres only a small patty mush of oatmeal as big as my palm and a quarter of an inch thick.

I think my worms can finish that.

On the bright side, after tossing today, i noticed some thicker worms.

Im not sure what their maxsize is. When they arent stretched they arent very long, but if agitated i can get them to look pretty long.

Sounds good, hopefully that will suffice.
If you are noticing thicker worms then you are heading down the right path. It takes some time to get really nice sized worms.

When grains are mixed with carbon based materials like newspaper, cardboard, etc., hot composting begins to take place. For the worms it spells disaster because if they are not able to escape they will cook in the bin. Alot of worm farmers that sprinkle their beds with grains leave an area without grains for the worms to retreat to in case it happens to start heating up.

Ya today i saw this monster sized ENC. Well in my opinion of a monster. It was at least six inches long relaxed, and was almost as thick as a pencil.

I see the term "sprinkle" alot. Do you guys sprindle DRY grains on your worm beds? Because i find it logically impossible to sprinkle mushy oatmeal. After all it is a glob.

I have been doing oatmeal mush patties. I thought that since worms like moisture that the water in the patty would be better. Is dry in fact better?

Sounds like a good fishing worm to me.

That's what I do and several others I know do. I just sprinkle the dry grains then mist with water and I'm done. I don't know if I would say dry is better but easier to deal with and easier to guage how much is being added. If your method works well for you then all is good. The same outcome just a different method.
