Worms died at store. 2 Years, 9 Months ago Karma: 0
I was needing some opinions on how you all think this should be handled. My son sold 35 dozen worms (EN) to a store and told them not to store them in the beer cooler. Well they did store them there and after about ten days he got a call that the worms had all died. We think that it was to cold for them with the temperature about 36 dgf. Should he take full responsibility for all of what happened? Do most of you have some kind of guarantee or once they are sold it is the store owner that should take responsibility?
Thanks in advance for your opinions.

I wouldn't take full responsibility for what happened if I told them not to put them in the cooler and they did anyway. I would however try to reach a middle ground with them though. They have lost money, the least you can do is cushion the blow. I believe this will reflect better on you than doing nothing. If you do nothing you may lose your customer and them bad mouthing you isn't going to help for other potential customers.
When I was in small engine school there was a saying 1 happy person might tell 5 people, 1 angry person might tell 10 people(usually more).

I guarantee my worms if they are stored like I want them,I haven't lost a cup this year. I deal with another worm company for pinks, jumpers, and hybrids, they replace any cups of worms that die.

Agree -- replace the worms at no cost, but make sure you take the opportunity to educate them on proper storage and state a clear policy for how you'll handle it in the future.

If you're breeding worms, I'd guess that replacing 35 dozen is probably a $25 or less actual cost to you. If you're trying to start up a business, that's not lot of cost to simply absorb with the expectation of future sales to that store and good word-of-mouth.

Cheers, Jase

As in most the posts , i agree you should kept the customer happy after all in busines the old adge the customer is always right , but on the other hand you must EDUCATE YOUR CUSTOMERS , they are not worm experts they sell things , i always mark my bait containers for my no refridgeration needed worms , africans , tasty bait euros etc , with a little stick on reminder DO NOT REFRIDGERATE WORMS WILL DIE ...its kinda blunt but it works

to your success
