Ken..I agree completely with "using what you have". For me, that is what it is all about, making use of something, rather than making it trash. I have made bins out of almost any kind of container. The best kind of plastic container (IMHO) is one not much more than 12" deep. Surface area is more important than height, as the worms in your bin are surface dwellers/feeders. The bin should be opaque, (not see through). Habitat for Humanity Reclaim Centers is a good place, but you should look around your house or neighborhood for free stuff. You do not mention where you are located but there is a website called "Freecycle" where people list items for "giveaway".. OR.. you are allowed "wanted" posts. (Great place!) Hope that helps.
