I am trying an experiment - 2006/05/07 11:26
I don't know if I would recogize a worm cocoon if I saw one So this morning I when I checked on the worms I just gathered up some of what is in the bin, minus any worms of course and put it in a wide mouth glass jar. I cut the foot off an old pair of pantyhose and secured this over the top of the jar with a rubber band (don't want to find any surprises crawling across my desk in case I missed a worm). The jar is now sitting on top of my computer tower.
I'll just wait and see if any little wormlets appear after a while. If none appear I will know I just didn't get any cocoons in my collection as I have lots of healthy worms, so I know that wouldn't be the problem.
If some do start hatching out, this may be a fun thing for my grandsons to observe over the summer. Then I can just dump the hatchlings into my bins, or help them start one of their own if they want to.
Okay I have gone worm crazy I know, but there are worse places to go, right?

I always wanted to be somebody; I guess I should have been more specific. |
