COCOONS??? - 2006/06/21 12:14 Will someone make me a very happy gal and tell me these are cocoons (in the picture)? But only if they really are *L*? I checked some of my bins this morning and found these yellowish looking things. I have seen lots of babies but not the cocoons yet.

Also does anyone know why a worm might "tie" a knot in itself? I found one like this and put him to the side because I was going to take a picture of it but by the time I got done it had "untied" itself. It seem to be doing okay but I put it in a container by itself for now.

Also does anyone know where I might get a few more red wigglers? I got all that was available at the local bait shop.

Thanks,
Jiggerlee

Re:COCOONS??? - 2006/06/21 13:37 Looks like cocoons to me. It won't be long before you have lots of worms without buying more.

Do you have red wigglers or ENCs? Seems like most places sell ENCs for bait and call them "red wigglers" or "trout worms". The ENCs are a little larger and therefore better for bait. Of course I am still new to this and am only going by what is going on in my area.

Re:COCOONS??? - 2006/06/21 14:46 Thanks for the reply. I'm so excited! The cocoons came from my bin of what I think are Canadian Nightcrawlers but I'm not real sure about that yet. Check out the post "What Kind of Worms do I have??? They are the ones that my son started selling last year for bait. We just get them out of the yard and they need to be kept really cool.

I just got my Red Wigglers a couple of days ago only about 100 and they are doing fine so far, they guy at the bait shop said they were red wigglers anyways. They are not nearly as big as my others but more livelier. I have to keep the lid on the bin because I'm afraid they will crawl out and run away. *L*

Re:COCOONS??? - 2006/06/30 08:29 What are you doing with your cocoons to ensure they hatch?

Re:COCOONS??? - 2006/06/30 22:57 I really don't know what to do with them, I just have them by theirself and am keeping the soil moist and I guess I'll see what happens? Any suggestions??? Thanks.
