creatures in bin - 2006/07/05 18:50 This may be a dumb question but there are a huge amount of short worm,slug like bugs in my compost and the compost is making a sizzling noise. is this normal?I am really new at this

Re:creatures in bin - 2006/07/05 20:59 The noise you here is the worms hard at work. It's a good sound to hear. Other critters will find their way into your bin. Most are helpful to harmless, but there are a few you want to watch out for.

If I were to guess,(and that's all I can do), I might guess the creature was Black Soldier Fly larvae. Go check out...happydranch.com..and look at their "Invertebrate" page. If it is BSF's, they are the good guys and can eat massive amounts of "raw" organics.
