 Worms for Fish Bait - 2006/08/04 18:11 I was just at an area fishing tackle shop. They had a menu on the wall listing the different kinds and prices of worms. I did not know there were so many kinds raised for bait. They had Red Worms, Red Wigglers, Big Red, Wigglers, Night Crawlers, and one called Green something. They told me the Night Crawlers were the largest but were not very active. They said the Wigglers were very active and probably the best for fishing. If any of you raise worms for fish bait, do you grow this many different kinds? What are the better to grow for profit?

 Re:Worms for Fish Bait - 2006/08/04 21:52 Freddie..I have seen European Nightcrawlers sold as redworms, big reds, giant redworms and more. Most of the bait places do not know the species but call them whatever they want. I think the european nightcrawler, (eisenia hortensis), are one of the top of the line in fishing bait. There are other species very suitable for bait, but they too can be called whatever the seller wants to dub them. Susan Quinby-Honer

 Re:Worms for Fish Bait - 2006/08/05 17:08 I know a man that raises Europeans, redwigglers, and native nightcrawlers and sells them to bait shops.He said that he sometimes puts Europeans in the cup along with the redwigglers when he is starting to run low on big redwigglers.
