Okay to feed potato chips? - 2006/10/09 16:23 Would it be a bad idea to feed worms potato chips or corn chips? I'm worried the salt and oil may pose a problem.

Re:Okay to feed potato chips? - 2006/10/09 21:46 James...How big are your bins? If the bins are very small then build up of salt could be a problem. If they are larger, then occasional chips are not a problem. I usually soak/drain chips, prtezels and such before adding to my big bins. Susan Quinby-Honer

Re:Okay to feed potato chips? - 2006/10/10 16:52 I have about 1 1/2 square feet with one pound of worms. I'll rinse off the chips and see how the worms react. As an alternative, I can always throw them outside into the compost bin.

Thanks for the advice,

James

Re:Okay to feed potato chips? - 2006/10/10 21:47 The fat will be fuel for some of the microbes, and the microbes is what the worms eat.

Washing the salt loose is a good plan, as salt isn't gonna help the worms.
