OK to touch worms? - 2008/05/05 21:34 I've just started my own little worm bin and am quite enamored of the little squirmies. I've also got a five-year-old neighbor who loves worms and would like to come play with them, but I'd like to check to make sure that this wouldn't be overly stressful or damaging to the worms.
Of course, she'd wash her hands before and after touching them and be very gentle.

Any thoughts?

Re:OK to touch worms? - 2008/05/05 22:39 Not so important to wash hands before handling the worms. It is important to have your friend spritz some water on their hands so that the worms being handled can stay moist.
Explain that the worms need to stay moist because they breathe through their skin and if their skin gets dry they die.
