world without worms...? - 2008/06/26 13:04 Hi everyone! Sorry if this question seems a bit weird or cheeky (please ignore me if you're offended by my attempt at hijacking your forum), but it would be great if anyone fancied helping out with a question I have.

I'm currently writing a (fairly stupid) novel which, amongst other things, features earthworms. I know, it sounds weird and it probably is, but what the hell. Any way, the question I have is what would happen to the world if earthworms didn't exist? Would we all die or could the planet cope OK? Any ideas on this not too serious query would be really welcome (and the book does end well for the worms if you're wondering...)

Re:world without worms...? - 2008/06/29 20:55 I think if you research how the Native Americans lived before the Europeans arrived, you may find the answer you need. The last glacier age supposedly wiped out Earthworms in most of North America and they were not present until The settlers from Europe arrived. www.wormcrusader.com
