Re:Harvester - 2006/01/19 22:34 Ginny...
Can you give more detail on your harvester? Is it a commercial unit? Home unit? How does it work? And, do you like it or not like it? Just curious...

Re:Harvester - 2006/01/20 00:00 Thank you for your query about this worm harvester. It is a commercial Jet Worm Harvester model 2420 from Worm World out of Florida. It is 103 in. Long, 36 in. Wide, 41 in. High w/o legs and weighs 130lbs. It sits on Pneumatic Tires and, of course is motorized. There are 2-36inch screens that came with it. The added extras are-- 2 additional screens,(one set is 1/4th in. and the other is 1/8th in.) a pair of Aluminum Paddles installed and there is an Aluminum Loading Chute. The harvester is barrel shaped, sits on four legs with the front ones being adjustable for heighth and turns by a motor at a moderate speed. Worms and soil go in the front and is separated. It is a great machine! Work is involved but beats hand sorting by at least a mile! I purchased this harvester in Feb. 2001 and probably used it about a dozen times as I needed to sell or divide. When B&B died so did my worm business. It now lives in my garage and really needs to be working for somebody instead! This machine is in excellent shape and has always been sheltered. The cost was $2,326. I'm asking $1800 and am willing to deliver if the distance not to unreasonable from me, or as another option I'm willing to meet the buyer if the distance can be agreed on. I live two hours north and west of Chattanooga TN. I could try sending pictures to your email address if you would like to see it. Let me know if you have further questions or want pictures. Thanks again for your inquiry. Ginny Syvertson

Re:Harvester - 2006/01/20 14:04 My Goodness, sounds like quite a nice setup! Thanks for all the info.

As for me, at this time I don't believe I could use it efficiently (I just have a small "chestfreezer wormbin". However, I may be working soon with a local school who has grant money for "greening" up the school (put in herb/veggie beds, worm bin operation, etc). If it goes well I'll keep you in mind and be sure to bring up your machine.

Again thanks!

Re:Harvester - 2006/01/21 01:11 If you want to see a picture of that harvester, go to www.jetcompost.com and click on harvesters. That is a very good deal for someone needing a harvester.

Re:Harvester - 2006/01/21 10:55 About pictures of the harvester that Jerry so graciously gave. I thought that there might just be a more direct link to the site. Sure enough when I riffled my worm info stack, there it was. One reason for this post is that as I was trying to remember when I purchased this harvester, for its description, I thought 2001. But I was doing research in December 2001. So the purchase had to be in Feb. 2002 not 2001. My link was: www.gnv.fdt.net/~windle/wormgin.htm
I can't seem to make it clickable, but there it is. Ginny Syvertson

Re:Harvester - 2006/01/21 11:26 My appologies to one and all. My orginal link went away!! Decided that I needed to track it after I posted, Mistake, mistake! At any rate Jerry's link is the best one and if you do a /harvester after the .com it will take you directly to the right page. I was shocked at the new prices!!!! Should have looked there first HUH LOL LOL Ginny

Re:Harvester - 2006/01/25 09:17 I'm not seeing the e-mails, don't know why, the address is correct. Anyway, try this email address instead: kevinandbrendaw@sbcglobal.net, it should work.

It may be a little while before we could do anything about the harvester, we are in the process of obtaining financing to expand the business and I don't know when it will come through. Hopefully soon.
