Re:Biodegradable Ramen Bowls;Green Stride or Big S - 2007/02/21 16:19
I have read about these take-out products. They are made from renewable sources like sugar cane, corn and soy. I have had packing peanuts that were made of soy and they decomposed in my worm bin easily. I would definitely opt for these type of products and think they are on the right track. I don't know how long they (bowls or cups) would take to decompose but they are a much better option than styrofoam which can hang around for over 500 years. I guess your son will need to get a bit older to understand the time frame. As I recall, with my 4 year olds, if it wasn't happening in the next 5 minutes, they didn't care much about it.
