No Worm Resources page..still - 2008/01/08 11:01The one piece I have always thought was missing from this terrific site is a "Worm Resources" page. It was promised and said to be complete but still nothing that I can find. Other web sites have good lists with resources listed in Canada and the US. They have businesses listed for information,(not endorsement)for people looking for worm growers, (and other products involved with worms), more local to them. I wish this page would finally be added and available to all that peruse this site.Susan Quinby-Honer redhen@nc.rr.com Starve the Landfill...Feed the Earth.

Re:No Worm Resources page..still - 2008/01/09 09:57Hey Redhen, how's it going? We could start our own, in the posts. Just a string of collected posts. Then maybe the site guys could use the list to build something a bit more official.
THIS IS JUST AN EXAMPLE, PLEASE DO NOT POST YOUR INFO =====================================================
If you sell worms, post below... --Format-- Name: Business Name: Website: No website, then contact info: Briefly, what do you sell...
Brief synopsis of your company... ===================================================== You get the jist. If you're interested I'd do another post. I say you because you're more known and higher on the worm chain around here than me. You could even ask to get moderator rights on the thread so you could prune back bad posts.-:Mark:- MEInc.us Hampton, VA
I agree with you both. It would be great to see it. Since I found this forum it has been very helpful. And being one of the "newer kids in town" I would love to see something like what Mark has proposed.
I have only been doing this for a year, and that has tought me that so far this is learn as you go business with very little standardization. Until I found this place I was starting to think that noone on the internet knew anything about worms or castings. I dont really know where I would be with my heard if it had not been for the insight and help I recieved from reading all the thread here.
So I would endorse and look forward to something like this. Thats both of my two cents !Dave Wallace Squirmin' Worm Farm Plymouth, WI www.squirminwormfarm.com

Re:No Worm Resources page..still - 2008/01/11 19:37I'll wait for Susan to reply back, and don't want to step on anybody's toes (the sites or senior contributors; what?! I'm military, we have rank structure!). But if nobody wants to do it I'll start a fresh thread and take care of tracking the info. If the site guys aren't interested in the info then I can compile and post it on my website, it would give me a lil more control over it then the forum. I don't want to take away from the website, but would like to see it, I'll even link back .
I wanted to also do a list of what works and doesn't. You read everything that says organic waste and names a few commons, but I'd like to see a list of everything people have used for both bedding and food. A lot of people ask if what they produce would work (I saw somebody ask about mushrooms and somebody else about sawdust to name a couple). It would be a if you used it let us know. And if somebody used something that killed off their worms it would be a good idea for a "no no" list.
Let me know Susan if you're interested, if not, I'll take the ball and run! -:Mark:- MEInc.us Hampton, VA
They are free to sign on to and free for users. These sites do not endorse any company. They are just set up to help those who would like to buy worms find someone more local to them. On a forum, such as this, I do not believe it is allowed to advertise your business, and that is a good thing. Worm Digest has contacted me long ago to get my information and said they were compiling an extensive list of businesses still in the business. It is up to them to make this list available to it's viewers here. So I guess what I am saying is, if you think this is a good idea, (and it is), perhaps you could email WD staff and let them know.Susan Quinby-Honer redhen@nc.rr.com Starve the Landfill...Feed the Earth.

Re:No Worm Resources page..still - 2008/01/13 10:19I liked the findworms.com site, with the map and all. They have to tighten their site though, a lot of broken links and the forum has a "bad for them" link. It links to an install page. I tried contacting them, but that link is broken too.
I think dealers entering in their own info is better than compiling. You said they contacted you awhile ago. Just think how many dealers started up or quit since then. Oh well, Google works for me!-:Mark:- MEInc.us Hampton, VA

Re:No Worm Resources page..still - 2008/01/14 13:41I too am waiting to find out what WD says about all of this. I would post our info, but think we should wait to see if this is something they want to persue...
Or if we are going to have a redworm revolution and start out own island! This is great site and it has been very helpful for me. But I do see a need for something like what is being discussed here. It would help us all in my humble opinion...

Re:No Worm Resources page..still - 2008/01/21 10:06Hello all! Nikki from the EarthWorm Digest office here.... I just wanted to let everyone know that we were working hard on compiling the list of people still in the business. We have created an extensive list for all to see. I am sorry it hasnt been available to you yet things got a little crazy in the office and as you know most of our staff went back to college. When they went back to school, it left us crazy trying to get it all done with just the few office members we have still on board. We are now just waiting for it to go on the website. The cost on it will be FREE if you purchase anything from the EarthWorm Digest. If all you want is the list the cost will be $5.00. When you see the resource pages we have compiled I am sure you will be quite pleased and see that the wait was worth it!
Thanks Nikki
