Anyone tried this product? - 2008/12/30 13:15 I was leafing through a magazine and came across a story about this guy. Was wondering if anyone has tried his products.

Very interesting business model to say the least!

Re:Anyone tried this product? - 2008/12/30 19:07 I saw Terracycle various products at my local Home Depot. I didn't try them yet. I am not sure how good his products are? Last time I checked, the prices are reasonable. I like his idea collecting recyclable 20 oz soda bottles and other materials for the packaging. Andy

Re:Anyone tried this product? - 2008/12/31 13:27 Same here. I saw his products at a Home Depot here in Western Washington. Read an article...maybe the same one. Quite an operation he's got going. He's got non- profit organizations collecting plastic pop bottles for him as a fundraiser.

Re:Anyone tried this product? - 2009/01/05 21:06 I do like the premise for his business.
I do not understand how AVCT can be bottled, sealed and still remain viable for the microherd population that has been growing.
When I "brew" the tea for sale, clients know that they have about 8 hours to apply the tea before the microherd starts to decrease significantly.
All I can think is that if people like the Terracycle "tea", they would be thrilled with the real stuff.

Re:Anyone tried this product? - 2009/01/06 17:20 Here's the thing about terracycle. The product is all about fertilizer and the label says nothing about depositing beneficial microbes. I usally buy it stictly as a good fertilizer at wamart when they sell them off at $1 at the end of the season.

Their garden fertilizer has nitrate of soda in it which is a salt used for nitogen content. I am skeptical about using it too often during the season. Does anybody know anything about it?

Re:Anyone tried this product? - 2009/01/06 22:57 Re: Nitrate of soda

I saw that mentioned at Dirtworks, an organic/permaculture site: http://www.dirtworks.net/Organic-Fertilizer/Pro-Booster.html

"Organic nitrogen from plant and animal wastes must be mineralized by soil microbes into nitrate (NO3) to be used by plants. The only known deposit of natural mineral nitrate on earth is in the Atacama Desert located in Northern Chile. It is mined for agricultural and horticultural use and is commonly known as Chilean Nitrate or Natural Nitrate of Soda."
