WormDigest Forum

New Products and Machinery - 2005/09/17 18:28 I have had the opportunity to attend quite a few lawn and garden national shows over the last two years. These shows were in several cities across the United States. I am anxious to discuss and/or compare what is out in the market place for sale in today's lawn and garden community.

I also had a chance to check out some earthworm and farm machinery that is being sold to the general public.

In both categories, new products and machinery, I have seen both good and not so good.

Thank you Worm Digest for providing this forum where we can exchange our views on this very important topic.

Re:New Products and Machinery - 2005/09/17 20:15 Plenty of machinery to look at here from your armchair at this site. I'm looking over the continuous flow reactors and had no guess there were so many ways to go after that one. Let me know if you saw any at those shows on the list here.

Re:New Products and Machinery - 2005/09/18 15:34 Edmond & ginbob -

This forum is going to give everyone an opportunity to blow the sox off some product claims that are for sale in the public place. I have seen some very good and bad lawn and garden products. I have also seen good and bad when it comes to machinery. I am referring to both residential and commercial machinery.

My only concern is we all have to be careful that there will be no shills entering this forum trying to masquerade like an expert when they may be nothing more than a salesmen for the product or machinery being discussed.

Let's all work together and keep it straight.

Re:New Products and Machinery - 2005/09/19 22:35 Hey Foobar -

Well. Just like anything, there'll be all sorts of claims out there. The more we talk the more we zero in on the real deal. It is places like this that make such a great opportunity to get it straight.

Re:New Products and Machinery - 2005/09/20 14:14 Edmond, ginbob and foobar!

I read in the Latest News Article section of this website about who is involved in this new Worm Digest organization. This group is not only strong from the science side of the fence but they have some big time players involved in earthworm field experience and the business side of things.

I used to read Jerry Guinn's from Pittsburg, Texas comments in the old forum from the old website. You could tell Jerry knew what he was talking about. I respected his posts in the forum.

I cannot say enough about Bob Ingram from House Springs, Missouri. He is a nice fellow and you are talking about a real class act.

These guys have experience. They know machinery and they know products. This and the other five specific discussion forums on this website are going to be a much better place when both of these gentlemen get involved in the discussions.

Re:New Products and Machinery - 2005/09/21 09:23 Jean,

Nice Post! I could not agree with you more. Both of those guys are first class. But I would like to add one more gentleman that you may have overlooked.

His name is Jamie Melvin from Cleveland, Ohio. He is the brains, inspiration and glue that brought this all-star cast of experts together. There is a reason why he is the Executive Director of Worm Digest. It would be difficult to find a more sincere and humble person. I have heard of how he has overcome adversity and challenges. He is the type of guy you want in your corner.

With the help of others, Jamie is spearheading this whole earthworm movement to another level. I look to see great things from his vision in the near future. If we are lucky, it would be great to read some posts from him in these forums.

I am also hoping that all of the nice people who used to post on the old forum will return back to the Worm Digest and continue to share their thoughts. There was a time when that old forum had a nice buzz to it.

Re:New Products and Machinery - 2005/09/21 10:00 Andy!

I could not agree with you more. Everyone in the earthworm/environmental community is watching Jamie Melvin's Sansai situation in Cleveland, Ohio. Insider's close to the situation have reported that the real story has yet to be published. I cannot wait to read about what is really happening there in Cleveland. The word from reliable sources say there is definitely collusion involving the City of Cleveland politics and another factor. Big surprise! I think they underestimated Jamie.

There is a nice group of affluent people who recently were serious about asking Jamie to run for State Senator or Governor of the State of Ohio. I heard he politely turned them down to stay in the private sector to continue in business.

I also heard he is in pre-production with a major motion picture studio getting ready to film a high budget movie thriller in which his role is a leading character. He could become a big time movie star.

Re:New Products and Machinery - 2005/09/21 10:08 Hello Everyone,

This appears like it is going to be great forum. I cannot wait for future discussions relating to business products and machinery.

It also seems like we have a nice group of people working with the website and a nice group of people visiting the website.

This is a win-win for everyone.

Re:New Products and Machinery - 2005/09/23 01:12 Thanks for the kind words. I look forward to answering as many questions as I can. Not only is there a lot of new equipment on the market but we are heavily involved in research on black soldier flys.

I look forward to seeing the names of the people we have talked to in the past.

Re:New Products and Machinery - 2005/10/05 11:04 This is a great new forum. I'm looking forward to learning more and more.
I'm looking for products & machinery to make my bait biz more time & money efficient. I have 50 4x8 wood beds.
I'm currently looking to put T-tape irrigation in to water my beds as I also use beds in winter to raise vegetables. Anyone know where to find grain grinders to make my own feed but affordable?
Have a GREAT day.

Re:New Products and Machinery - 2005/10/15 00:46 I could not get your link to work. I'd like to see your website. Also, any of you need a great worm harvester?? 4 sizes to choose from. I just created a new website, take a look at these great worm harvesters http://wormharvesters.com. I have been using these harvesters for a couple of years. And I believe they are the best on the market.

Re:New Products and Machinery - 2005/10/15 01:16 Thank You for the link for harvesters. Very impressive
I got a homemade harvester with the equipment when I bought the biz last year. I will keep your website on my futures list.
As to my link can someone tell me how to fix it. I got Bob's to work but Jerry's didn't work for me.
I had to copy web address and paste it to my browser.
Thanks again,
MaryKay

Re:New Products and Machinery - 2005/10/17 12:51 On a smaller scale, I heard the Cleveland Botanical Gardens had a great event yesterday, led by Peg Duffy, in which you made your own worm bin, ready to take home and start diverting garbage from the curb to the garden. Did anybody go?
