Is there EVER going to be another issue? - 2006/04/14 04:00
Just wondering if Worm Digest is ever going to publish again. It has been more than a year since anything was published. This web site is nice and all, but it isn't a publication. When the new owners took over, we were told to expect big things "any time now." Coming soon. Just as soon as we get organized, you'll see!
Well, we're still waiting. Any news?

Mighty slow grapevine. My grapevine has grown over half the garage, my worm population has tripled in their new flow through bin and still not a word about when or even if WD will ever publish again. I first asked this question more than 4 months ago, and to date nothing has come of it. No posts from the "editors" (what do they edit?), no messages saying "it's coming" (apparently it's not), nothing but silence.
A good way to raise worms and mushrooms; keep them in the dark and feed them crap. Not so good if you want to build a community or sell a magazine.

Wellsworms and Dick,
Last week when I was in Cleveland I visited the Worm Digest offices.
First, I must say they are a bunch of nice hard working people dedicated to a great cause.
To answer Dick's question, yes they are going to publish a newsletter again. It appeared to me that they are preparing for an online quarterly magazine that will be much nicer and more informative than anything that has been done in the past. Wellsworms is correct. They have taken longer to get it out the door but it is definitely going to be done more professionally. As you can see on the Home Page of this site there is a article down the middle of the page referring to writer inquiries. Worm Digest is serious about quality writing.
I chime in with both of you. I hope they get done soon and get the online store up and running so that I can subscribe to the newsletter and buy some other things that they will be offering.
I had a chance to see a sneak preview of some of the nice products that will be offered through the online store. I have my eye on a few items for upcoming Holiday gifts.
. . . just my two cents. I am a long time website visitor, first time poster.

Thank you, Dalton, for the information. Glad to hear that something is going on back there.
One of my primary complaints is that we get such information second hand, from visitors or "through the grapevine," not from the people running Worm Digest. If they are planning something cool "any day now" then why in the world don't they tell us? Why do we sit in the dark wondering what is going on? I'd be much more willing to wait if I thought that something worthwhile would come of it, but to date we have heard nothing for more than a year.
Come on, people, just how long does it take to type a short note once a month or so? No wonder this site gets less than half the traffic the old WD did. At least they responded to their readers once in a while.

No Problem Dick,
I actually had a lot of fun during the visit to the Worm Digest headquarters. Everyone echo's your sentiments about anticipation for the new online quarterly magazine. I am sure soon there will be information published from the administrators about the upcoming magazine and opening of the online store. I got the feeling they want to be sure of deadline dates after they had a couple initial setbacks.
A couple of things I learned is that this new crew doesn't quit. They have encountered some adversity. I think that starts from the top. The other thing I learned is that this website is getting over 35 times more traffic than the old one and sometime this October and November they will jump to over 500 times more monthly traffic than the old website. It appears they are timing everything.
I have been visiting the Worm Digest website since 1998 and I personally feel the website has never been better than it is today. It keeps improving and I saw one new module they are going to be adding to the site that will be fun for everyone to use.
With great respect to you Dick, hopefully we will hear from the horses mouth soon.

HI Readers!
I volunteer at the Worm Digest office and I have to say that I missed this part of the forum and our editor had to bring it to my attention. Sorry I didn't see it before! Dalton, please come back and visit. You are very welcome anytime. Everyone here just loved that Pad Thai you brought! Jerry, we enjoyed corresponding and hearing about your setup in Vermont and can't wait to publish your story. Wait till you see how the picture of your place looks in the magazine! In fact, this is a topic/ongoing article we want to continue in the upcoming Worm Digests, how the worms first got under the skin of Chloe and/or Joe E. Normal... We were wondering how you got started, Dick. Would you like to send in some info on your background story? If so, please write in to Worm Digest at the "contact us" area. Our editor has been quite busy preparing the new magazine. It will be available online first and then printed. Our editor is Yu-Ting Lin. Her bio will be published on the home page of the online magazine very shortly. She needs more writers for the Spring issue but Winter is just EDIT EDIT EDIT! Hang in there!

Amazing that after 8 months, this question is still relevant. I rushed to submit an article by the "deadline" back in November because the new edition was going to be out "real soon now."
Yup, any day now.
Yup.

Hello Dick and Jerry,
I was in Cleveland over the weekend and I stopped by the Worm Digest. I met the staff and they were very accomondating. They are good people. I saw sneak preview of the new magazine. They were getting ready to send out hard copy issues to the individuals that contributed to the first issue. Both of you are getting hard copies sent to you this week. The rest of us will have to wait until Friday, when the online store opens.
Dick, your article was great and informative regarding the wormbin. Jerry, your story is fabulous. Worm Digest is back on track. Today, I saw the home page had a press release about the store opening. The staff will be unveiling more on Friday. I promised I would not let the cat out of the bag. There will be two other new surprises on Friday besides the online magazine.
Your earthworm buddy,
Corn Meal

Now THAT'S what I'm talking about! Great news. I'm glad that WD landed somewhere where people care enough to take some pains at doing the job right. It may have taken longer than I liked, but I'm sure it will be worth waiting for.
Congratulations,
Dick

Hey Guys, As you may or may not know I work here in the Earthworm digest office.
Well I appreciate you bringing this up because it gives me the opportunity to brag about how awesome we have put the Spring issue together! Now, I don't want to give away just how cool this issue is but I will say that there are quite a few very interesting articles in there.
This Issue covers lodes of helpful info including...
An Article called "Can Earthworms cure Cancer?"
A story from The Fernbank Science Center down south in Atlanta Georgia
We have a story in there telling the making of Sansai Environmental.
An Article explaining "The Pee Wee Puppet Show"
And my favorite section of the magazine being... "What happened to Joey?!?!"
Find out all this and more in the Spring issue of our magazine that we will be placing in the Magazine store within the next 10 days!!!!
And let me say that you guys are going to LOVE IT!!!!
Your wormy friend, Katrina

Re:There is an upcoming WD issue - 2007/12/07 09:38
Hey everyone!
As you know I work in the EarthWorm Digest office, I just wanted to let everybody know that at this time we are trying to get the next issue together. It is taking a lot longer than we thought given the reason that a few members of our staff have gone back to College for the next semester. We are very happy and very proud of them!!! although we do miss having them here!
On that note, we are doing what we can to get the next issue out! I also want to say thanks to those of you who have been so patient with us!
