How fast do worms move? - 2006/04/30 07:45 I am not sure how to ask this, but here goes. How fast should my ENCs move when they are exposed to light? Is this a quick reaction? If it is not a quick reaction do I have a problem? I have no clue if I am making sense.

I fed the worms yesterday, when I raked back a little bedding it was no problem to see the worms begin to crawl, but I noticed a couple that didn't seem to move and I worried they had passed on. I picked one up and could tell it was still alive bt moving very slowly. Could the cooler weather be a cause, or do you think there is problem?

Re:How fast do worms move? - 2006/04/30 12:02 Worry when there is a majority of very sluggish worm. ENC's actually like the cooler temps (55-60F). I notice my ENC's get very slow and kind of "melty" when the temps start to rise in my bins, so I keep their bins cooler and wetter than the other species. Susan Quinby-Honer

Re:How fast do worms move? - 2006/05/07 23:22 I use a little red LED flashlight with a head-strap when I check my trays - lets me watch my l'il fellas doing what they do without freaking 'em out. Way neat to see them getting about their business instead of diving for cover, and I think would help ID any health issues too since I can watch them au'naturale. Y'all have fun, whatever you're doing.

Re:How fast do worms move? - 2006/05/08 06:36 What does a person look for to know if a worm is having health issues? Is there something I can read that would list symptoms and possible cures? Unless the worm was dead or like Susan's, that had the very visible blistering, I wouldn't know what I was looking for.
