putting dead insects into worm bin. - 2006/05/05 06:26 can i put dead insects into the worm bin?
i have some superworms. which died because of heat, and i was wondering if i can throw them into my worm bin?

If there are a mass quantity and they are going in an indoor bin, I would perhaps concern myself with the ammonia from the dead worms. Ammonia might kill your worms in an indoor bin and attract flies. Susan Quinby-Honer

I suggest a separate bin for questionable organic things you need to dispose of. Rather than risk hurting your worms. At least in the holding bin, questionable types of food waste, or dead worms will age and decay until you feel its safe to feed to your regular worm bin.
I have a special bin of sacrificial worms to feed questionable waste to, if they survive, then I know I can feed that food to other worms.
