Re:Birthday of Worm Digest Administrator - 2005/11/13 02:04 Happy Birthday Jamie!

I know you're spending it on working to input pictures for the great people here at Worm Digest.
I can't wait to see them.

The Worm Digest's home was blessed by over 65 people on Thursday, including neighbors, business associates, friends, family, and Bishop Roger Gries of Cleveland, who, with Jamie, cut the red ribbon across the entrance of the building now named The Richard Melvin Building. The flag was sent up the flagpole as Collinwood High School's JROTC stood at attention in their dress greens and the Star Spangled banner played. Six great signs around the 724,000 sq.ft. property, green granite background with gold lettering... for Jamie's father, Richard Sr. and Rik Jr., his brother, two inspirational people in Jamie's life. His father's sister, Sr. Patrica Ann Melvin, SND, also recently deceased, was good friends with Bishop Gustavo Garcia-Siller of Chicago, who sent a blessing, read by Rev. Lorn Snow, SJ, of Gesu.

Bagpiper John Patrick McNae piped us all into the west bay where the prayers continued with Belinda Freeman blessing us with the God's word from Pastor Debbie Gibbons of Nottingham Methodist Church, then Fr. Tom Weber and Fr. Bob Lorkowski of St. Bernadette's both blessed all inside, all business to be conducted and all interactions to be kind and fair. Fr. Weber reminisced about the people for whom the bulding was named and then Guru Athmo Bhundari had us close our eyes and breathe in positive energy, feeling the goodness that the building is going to produce and we BECAME the blessing.

It was amazing. McNae struck up the pipes again and we processed to the conference room, to eat the great food that Jamie's mom, Claire (and friends) had set up. The best lemon squares in the world were gone quickly (homemade by building manager, Tim Seale's wife, Colleen).

Joe Browne then took us all for a hike inside the 18 acre plant and the day ended with Fr. Tom Weber's additions to the whiteboard's list of sayings.

One was: Vision without action is just dreaming, action without vision is just passing time and action with vision will change the world.

Jamie: Thank you for letting me be a participant in Worm Digest and The Richard Melvin Building.
I admire and respect you! Keep on Truckin'!!!

Re:Birthday of Worm Digest Administrator - 2005/11/13 16:24 Greetings to all and especially to Jamie on his New Born Day. You have covered a great distance in the last year and much has changed since the year before.

I know you will apply your new found knowledge to this new cycle of yours and bring in the New Year with great insight, balance, and strength.

Just to state that I will be going back to Ghana on the 18th of November, 2005 to promote how worm composting will befit Ghanaian culture, life, and environment.

I will post my accomplishments as they come and hopefully this time next year we will hit the ground running in Africa.

Peace and Blessings to all

Re:Birthday of Worm Digest Administrator - 2005/11/15 21:24 Jerry, Bob, Maureen and Queen Victorious -

Thank you all for your kind words. Thank you for taking the time to participate in these forums. I enjoy reading all of your posts.

Since this is a technology forum, I feel compelled to share some interesting statistics that relate to technology.

Each and every day we are seeing more and more visitors (internet traffic) stop by and take a look at this website. In fact, this past Sunday there were 156 guests spending serious time reading articles and searching the forums on this website all at once. So far, in our short two month tenure, that's our record.

At that same time there was only one registered user online, but she had quite a few friends around her reading articles and searching posts in the forums.

I am amazed and in awe of the nice people who all are working for a unified goal of sharing information and helping one another.

Another amazing factoid that was brought to my attention yesterday by our beloved Scooter is that we are now getting hundreds of hits an hour on this site. Alot of people are checking it out.

There are several people a day registering, but seem to be a tad shy about posting. In due time, I believe we will see more collaboration.

This is just the beginning. I can assure you, with the great people we have onboard, this website will continue to improve every week.

Jerry, now that I am older, my eyes aren't focusing as well as they use to see. Are you sure that girl in last month's poll who was eating the earthworm wasn't an old girlfriend of yours?

And Bob, after only one post, I do not see under my name that I am a fertile cocoon. However, congratulations after seventy five posts, I see you sir are a mature breeder earthworm.

Re:Birthday of Worm Digest Administrator - 2006/07/01 17:08 Jolly good showing at the World Cup!
I hope you will investigate methane digestion for the production of cooking fuel (and other natural gas applications) in Ghana. Many developing countries have destroyed their forests for fuel while being surrounded by manure (human and otherwise) that could produce this clean fuel.
I am still waiting for a serious demonstration of feeding the spent manure from a methane digester to a vermiculture system that in turn sends non-chemical humus to a productive garden site.
