Re:Have you dealt with Unco Industries? - 2007/03/24 22:39
They have a well thought out and expensive! system but once you have the experience and know how to raise them you don't need their system so why not just get some worms and start raising them on your own. You can start and fail a lot of times and still not spend the amount of money they want up front for the first try! You can start a pretty big operation for only $150.00 worth of worms and a bunch of old refridgerators and freezers. Everything is basicly free except for the worms and most of them are free after the initial 10 lbs. If you treat 10 lbs. of worms right you will be amazed at their production. If you don't treat them right you will be amazed how fast they die! With your own worms you lost a hundred and fifty dollars with unco's you have lost thousands. It was an easy decision for me. You just need a source for some of these free items, cardboard, newspapers, cottonseed mote, horse manure, or rabbit poop. I think you could actually raise them sucessfully on just cardboard.
