Re:Questions about vermikoposting - can you help me? - 2005/10/31 19:28Hi, David. You don't need to use any dung at all! Fruits and vegetables are great, as long as you mix enough carbon material with it....dried leaves, grass, paper, moldy hay, etc. Seeya, Bobwww.trinity-ranch.com

Re:Questions about vermikoposting - can you help m - 2005/11/01 08:48David...I raise my worms on produce scraps, shredded paper and leaves only, no dung. Where do you live now? Do you want to build worm bins outdoors, in the ground?Susan Quinby-Honer redhen@nc.rr.com Starve the Landfill...Feed the Earth.

Re:Questions about vermikoposting - can you help m - 2005/11/01 15:23I also do not use dung. I am not against it, but the bins are in the basement and the one time I did use it, I got a real smelly spot and frankly the worms weren't impressed. So, I stick with vegetable waste and paper for indoor bins. When Life Gives You Scraps, Make A Quilt.

Re:Questions about vermikoposting - can you help m - 2005/11/01 17:09Dung from horses, cattle, sheep, etc. is great feed and bedding if properly prepared.....it's not NECESSARY to use, but is usually a good carbon to nitrogen mix in your beds. Livestock manure is a problem in this country in/re our waste stream....if we can help fix it, let's do it ! Seeya, Bobwww.trinity-ranch.com

Re:Questions about vermikoposting - can you help me? - 2005/11/04 00:57I raise 3 diferent types of worms, red wigglers, european nightcrawlers and African Nightcrawlers and use no manure. I am not against using manure, I just don't have any. I use a lot of vegetables and some fruit and some hay mixed with a lot of paper.KuznLes

Re:Questions about vermikoposting - can you help m - 2005/11/05 21:17David.. I think you are asking if feedstock containing harmful metals or other harmful substances would be more concentrated and harmful in the finished composted material. Am I correct?Susan Quinby-Honer redhen@nc.rr.com Starve the Landfill...Feed the Earth.
