Under-sink food separator - 2007/12/24 23:28
I was wondering if anybody has used an under-sink food separator? I wanted to put a link on here to the product, but it seems that composters.com have removed it from the inventory. And I can't find it ANYWHERE on the web. I did find a picture, which I think is it.
Anyway, the thing goes under your sink and attaches inline after your garbage disposal. When you put food down the sink, the garbage disposal does its thing and grinds up the food. This thing centrifuges the water out of the food. Water goes down the drain like normal, food collects in a little removable bin/cup. Food is now ideal size for little worm mouths. You can turn it on and off, so when things like meat and such go down you don't have to collect it.
Seems like a pretty good idea, you don't have to keep a kitchen bin. You can put everything down the sink and its all easily grounded up. Especially when you have a wife (like me) who doesn't like separating stuff.
So if anybody has used one, and now, knows where to get one, please let me know. Thanks!
