Worm Digest Fate... - 2008/02/18 17:40 Maybe this is bold but it looks to me that someone has to ask it.

What is going on? I dont usually read this part of the forums, but it looks like something bad is happening at Worm Digest, and I would like some info.

I have not subscribed to the magazine yet. But at one point I was really thinkin about it. Several of us are regulars here on the forums and feel very comfortable around each other.

I know that the reason I didnt just sign up and start recieving the magazine to start with was price. Then after hanging out here I saw that there was a problem with getting issues together...

Now it sounds like the whole thing could be in trouble. Am I missing something?

I am not worried about the forum closing up. If it gets trashed one of us would start it over again. But a lot valueable info will get lost in the process.

So if someone at Worm Digest wants to tell us what is going on great. If not maybe we need start looking for a new place for us all to get together...

Re:Worm Digest Fate... - 2008/02/18 22:21 This is a good site, but no worries...I post to another site that also is very good, with some of the same posters here and many others. The archives are also great.

Re:Worm Digest Fate... - 2008/02/18 22:33 I was going to suggest that. I see a lot of people on there. I was going to recommend they add a Vermicompost section...but they already did! Man they have a lot of Topics though, a lot of scrolling. Still, some might want to stick with just worms, or even composting. -:Mark:-

Re:Worm Digest Fate... - 2008/02/18 22:40 Hello Squirminwormfarm,

I love your name.

I saw your post and I thought I would reply.

First of all, nothing bad is happening to EarthWorm Digest. In fact, quite the contrary. The magazine is in full swing and continually getting better with each issue. The list of authors for the articles are worldwide experts. The staff was late getting out the last issue. But, it wasn't because they weren't working. They all have been incredibly busy over the last four months. The new stories that are about to be released in the magazine and other articles to be updated on the website are fabulous.

The good people that subscribed to the magazine certainly let the staff know they noticed when they were late to publish. That is a good thing. The only reason the cost of the magazine was pricey was because all the money was put back into the effort of running a non-profit organization.

Our boss, Mr. Melvin, has worked with over two hundred authors who have assisted the Earthworm Digest in creating articles from a worldwide perspective. There is a sincere genuine passion for this subject matter.

Jamie was invited and spoke at the United States Composting Council National Convention last weekend. I know he appreciates you and everyone else who participates here in the forums. It is people like you that makes these forums the best place to go to share information.

There was also another author who has worked with the EarthWorm Digest that spoke at the convention last week. Her name is Brenda Lotito from upstate New York.

I also wanted you to know that there are quite a few people who are reading the forums but not contributing as you are. Last month alone there were over one hundred thousand new people reading the forums, which makes this website the largest by far for earthworm information in the world.

I wish you well and I hope I answered a few of your questions.

Keep wormin squirmin,

Your pal Admin

Re:Worm Digest Fate... - 2008/02/18 22:49 Any way you guys can add a little more interaction to the website? Private Message, e-mail option, messenger listings, location under your name, things that most Forums have.

Glad to hear you guys are doing well. Any word on an electronic version of the magazine?

Sorry to thread jack, but I didn't get an answer when I posted.

Re:Worm Digest Fate... - 2008/02/18 22:54 Susan and Mark,

Thanks for the link and news about the new site. Will check that one out tomorrow. Time to sleepy now, must get up and feed worms in morning, then feed me, then go to work!

Also Mark, I would like to see the private message and messenger info also... We'll see what they say...
