Buying cocoons in bulk - 2008/03/11 13:56 Hi all,

I have several thousand worms muching away in the garage as i type. However, I am looking to expand my operation tailored more to the vermicompost market.
I want to increase my worm population drastically and rapidly without spending a fortune. This got me wondering, could i buy in bulk (thousands) of cocoons to kickstart my population? Would the cheapness of the cocoons be offset by the labour time taken to seperate them from the castings? Does anybody know where i could purchase such an amount of cocoons particuarly in England?
I am in the process of aquiring land and need to build up a large breeding stock to inoculate these new outside beds.

Cheers guys.

Re:Buying cocoons in bulk - 2008/03/20 23:42 I live in the U.S. can you ship out of country without problems. Also, I would like to start up worms as a Homeschoolers project. This would involved about 4 locations of Homeschool Families.
We will be teaching about worms. Then we also teach about budgeting, business management. The children enjoy doing one project like this a year. Some of the older Homeschoolers have went on with some of our projects to start and carry out their own business out side of the school project once we finish. So I have no clue one amount would be needed to help get this up and going at each school. If you could give a idea of prices and thought on this we would be thankful to you.
