 Chlorine filters - 2008/03/24 22:46 I have another question that I didn't find a satisfactory answer in search.

With all this time and effort to get the premo soil additive (Castings) I find it hard to believe that the chlorine in my water system isen't going to put the hurt on them when I add them to the garden.

Any Thoughts

And does anyone know of a good inline filter for my drip system?

 Re:Chlorine filters - 2008/03/29 10:00 Tap water generally will kill micro-organisms in your soil that is why you should collect rain water. Also if you must use chlorinated water you could let it sit for 24 hours and the chlorine will evaporate out, especially in the sun. They also make a declorinating product that can be found in fish/pet stores as they cannot live in tap water either. It all depends on your water usage and amount that you use.

I believe you should Rephrase that to say city water. My Water comes from well on my own property, as do many others generalized statements sometimes confuse people. I'm making this statement to try to help un-confuse people not to cause criticism. You only need two tools in life - WD-40 and Duct Tape. If it
doesn't move and should, use the WD-40. If it shouldn’t move and does,
use the duct tape.

Does anyone know of a link to a study or something to back this "fact" up. Just looking for more info on it. In my experience this "fact" does seem to hold up. Dave Wallace

Dave, I remember reading (somewhere via google) that chlorine dissipates so rapidly from a hose-end spray-nozzle that there is virtually no detriment to the target area, but I use the filters for my bin & soaker-hose setups. Got a few soaker-hose runs in planting beds and the veggie garden.
Jerry, we call piped-in H2O "county water" out here . That's what I'm on, but I'm thinking about getting a well drilled sometime in the next few years.
When I'm making avct, I leave the bucket bubbling overnight before adding vc. Y'all have fun, whatever you're doing.
