New business. - 2008/04/25 08:51 I made the leap. I am self employed again. I started a all organic landscaping business. Gives me an outlet for my castings.

The other benefit. Free lawn clippings and leaves lol.

Re:New business. - 2008/04/25 10:58 Best of luck. I started selling my ENCs to a few bait shops. Some have already sold. Its still early in the fishing season here in northern Ohio. I've been self employed for about 2 years (handyman, plumbing, HVAC) and would love nothing better to sell only worms. Much easier on the back and knees. Again, hope your business is a success! Jim

Re:New business. - 2008/04/25 11:25 TY James. I would love to sell to bait shops... I am just starting landscaping business. I agree. Selling worms is much better. Excuse me bait lol.

Re:New business. - 2008/04/25 12:03 I started out with just two stores. Trying to ease into it slowly. I know the owners rather well and if I'm going to make mistakes, I'd rather do it with them. Hopefully once everything is going smoothly I can expand to other store, and would like to start selling red wrigglers, once their numbers increase. Jim

Re:New business. - 2008/04/27 19:43 I just put a dozen in a container and sell for $1.00 to the buisnesses. I was thinking of trying 2 dozen per and see how they sell. Like I said, its not quite fishing season yet, so I'll try it in a couple of weeks when the weather improves. Jim

Re:New business. - 2008/04/27 23:09 i live in fl
I sell best to convience stores
yes a I have bait shops to but the shinner guys have the large red wiggler market wrapped up cause they are there selling shiners also
try indepedent conv. stores cause heres how it works
people need gas for boat soda for kids beer for them and ice for the cooler one stop shopping

36 cnt euros for 3.35 cup
24 cnt euros for 2.50 cup
18 cnt euros for 2.25 cup

sound like a lot but my market is tourist based
plus you have to buy cups and lids and peat moss to put into cups and as hard as I have tried I cannt train the things to jump into cups also certain states regulate what kind of cups you can put them in
my state doesnt but some states dont allow the styrofoam cups anymore which leaves an injection molded cup and lid plus the lid need some sort of air holes in it good luck look into this well big fines
come with using the wrong container

Re:New business. - 2008/04/28 10:13 TY James And Wormherder. Last time I checked wich has been a while. Canadians were going for about 2.50 a dozen retail. May be more now. Ill have to check.

My thinking is 2 dozen for 1 dollar wholesale.

Have either of you checked into pet stores???

Re:New business. - 2008/04/28 22:02 We usually pay more up here due to shipping costs. gallon of milk runs about $4, gas is at $3.99 for 87 octane.

Re:New business. - 2008/05/11 11:15 Hey Kyle,
I saw where you stated earlier that you would want to have others supply you until your herd increased. Well, I tried that this week for my encs, since the fishing season is finally coming up. I ordered from a supplier, who has a great reputation on this and other forums. Most stated that the ones they recieved were very large and healthy. Well, they were healthy but most were quite ssmall. Luckily I have enough to get me through, I just bought extra as an insurance policy in case something happened. Just wanted to let you know not to rely on someone else for your needs. And actually, I had read that on these forums also. Guess I should have taken their advice.

Re:New business. - 2008/05/11 14:14 I actually just did a little research. I ordered from one site and the worms were drop shipped from another company. If I'd have known they were going to do that I never would have ordered them. I'm going to contact the them and let them know, even though the worms were healthy, that I wanted the worms from them, not someone else. Jim

Re:New business. - 2008/05/12 23:08 I know what you mean. Kind of makes me want to be a supplier!!!! Light bulb going off lol.

I am going to spend this year building up my herd.

Thanks for your input.

Re:New business. - 2008/05/13 08:27 I'd like to supply too. Gonna start small, same as bait. I have a web site made, but I know it'll be a long time before I can put it up. I've seen some larger suppliers run out of stock. Don't want that to happen. Jim

Re:New business. - 2008/05/13 19:21 Exactly. I would think 1 year will make all the differance.
