escapees - 2008/05/08 23:18 I've had my worms for two days now (1 lb of worms in a 1og plastic storage bin) and each morning when I get up, 8-10 worms have escaped from the bin around the top and through the air holes on top of the lid (1/4" holes). I picked them up and put them back in the bin. The bin seems ok to me...moist, but not soggy. I've not fed them any scraps yet...just shredded newspaper bedding and a couple handfuls of leaves. Is it normal for several to want to roam outside of the bin? I would appreciate your advice.

Re:escapees - 2008/05/09 00:20 Try leaving the light on for them. Also you might toss in a small amount of food.

Re:escapees - 2008/05/09 21:26 I would feed half of that bin and leave them in a lighted room for a few days, until they start to feed.
Feed the other half when the first food is about 75% gone.

Re:escapees - 2008/05/11 10:57 Thank you all for your suggestions. I added a small amount of food and brought them inside. They are doing well and have had no more to escape.

Re:escapees - 2008/05/11 11:54 They might have been reacting to recent weather changes in the area too, since you had them outside. My l'il fellas tend to get wander-lust when a weather front moves through. Y'all have fun, whatever you're doing.
