ENC tips? - 2008/05/28 08:30 I just ordered a pound of European Nightcrawlers. I have 3 bins (2 with EF, 1 with wild) that have been doing well with shredded paper, cardboard and some compost. One has a false floor and air holes the other two do not.
I can't find much info on how to care for the ENC's other than they like it wetter, don't tolerate being disturbed as much as the EF's and have a tendency to crawl out for no apparent reason. (I will be keeping a light on for a while)
Can you experienced ENC wormers offer any tips to keep these guys happy? Do you prepare a ENC bin differently than you do a EF bin? (I'm planning on using an 18 gallon, but haven't decided whether to put holes in it or not).
Thanks for any advice,
Cathy

Re:ENC tips? - 2008/05/29 09:16 We (my two boys and I) started with 1 pound a year ago. We started out small to see if we could keep them without killing them. They survived so just last month I ordered a second pound.
We keep them in a bedding of shredded newspaper and pizza boxes. I know they don't like pizza so we have to suffer and eat it then they get the shredded box.
I have been raising them like "redworms". No complaints so far except for the 3 that got away. We keep them in a wooden box in the basement. The lid is left open about an inch and we leave a night light on for them.
