Source of Lumbricus Rubellus - 2008/06/06 09:49 I am trying to locate a source for Lumbricus Rubellus (redowrms). I have searched the net, and find lots of scholarily articles, but no places to buy them. If I search for Redworms or Red Wrigglers, I find lots of sources for Eisenia Fetida (for vermicomposting bins), but as I understand it, this species does not do well in the field/garden. Please give me some websites or phone numbers. Thank you

Re:Source of Lumbricus Rubellus - 2008/06/06 18:43 I am not sure where to get those, but I have had really good success with adding the Euro Nightcrawler to my garden and lawn. Still find them when I dig. www.wormcrusader.com

Re:Source of Lumbricus Rubellus - 2008/06/06 22:22 C'mon, Mod.

The poster is just trying to find someplace to get a few worms. He/she/it didn't say anything about a business, and I don't consider the herd products or machinery.
Lotsa posts in the general forum about farmers, reputable and not.
Y'all have fun, whatever you're doing.

Re:Source of Lumbricus Rubellus - 2008/06/09 13:22 I don't think LRs will do well in the garden either. Like EFs, they are composting worms and need LOTS of OM to survive. So unless your garden subs as a mini compost pile, you may want to think about using a different species of worm. We Are WORM - Resistance Is Futile!
