Re:Sources for worms? - 2008/08/07 10:23Can't tell you for sure what the difference between "Florida" and Red Wigglers are. Florida might be ENCs or ANCs or something completely different. Yes that took a long time just to say "I don't know the difference".
The best kind to start out with for the purpose of resale as bait is going to depend on what your local market is used to buying. If you start with Euro's and the local fisherman are used to Reds it could take some time for bait shops to buy your product. And if Florida Wigglers are Euro's and you are trying to sell the fisherwoman some reds she may not be happy right off the bat.
I would do some more research on your local market and local competition. Find out who is doing what, and what the local fishing scene likes and doesn't like.
Hope this helps Florida, and good luck with your new venture.Dave Wallace Squirmin' Worm Farm Plymouth, WI www.squirminwormfarm.com

Re:Sources for worms? - 2008/08/11 15:58OK, now I am a little more confused. I have kept "Florida wigglers" alive in five gal. buckets, from one fishing trip to another. What are "jumpers"? I know that Florida wigglers are very active, sometimes so much that is hard to get them hooked. I would like to start trying to keep them in an outside bed. Where is a source close to Jacksonville, Fla. that I could get some to start in my beds?
When I kept them in the bucket, they even started to have little ones, so that lets me know that I can possibley use the same technique to raise them outside.
These are what everyone around here likes to use. All help is very appreciated. Thanks, Sunshine

You can get jumpers from Best Buy Worms. They are based in Masaryktown, Fla. and have really great "jumpers". They are always fun to try and catch when I move my beds.

Re:Sources for worms? - 2008/08/12 13:16Thank you soooooooo much. I have sent an email to these people, and mentioned that I got their source from here. Hopefully, I can get some "jumpers", and start growing my herd.
I, also have saved their webpage, and if they have what I want, will have a good source to recommend to others.
Again, THANK YOU.()hug. Sunshine

Re:Sources for worms? - 2008/08/14 18:04Thank you,
I have recieved an email from Rabbitsetc., and yes they do have the wigglers. They call them Hybrid red worms, kinda pricy also. Also, they are about 4 hours drive from me.
So, yes, I will probably be in touch.
I noticed you have a 912 area code, are you near Brunswick?
I still have some work to do, to get my bed ready. Thanks again Sunshine
