Newbie Question on starting a business - 2008/10/23 19:55
Ok, forgive me if this has been answered before, as I just found this website today.
I have a flower farm and am looking at beginning a worm farm alongside this business. Initially, to provide vermicompost and worm tea for my own farm, but then to (hopefully) expand and have additional income from selling the compost and tea. (I don't see a lot of fishing in my area and would rather not pursue that area).
Soooo....
Is there an established system that could provide enough compost/tea for a 2 acre farm on an ongoing basis and also provide a side income of say $1700+ per month? What would the initial investment be approximately? (I guess I am looking at some kind of continuous flow system, not just digging a hole in the ground and letting them go!).
Do to the time contraints of my other business, it needs to be as simple as possible. I'm not looking for get rich quick, but I also need to know if I am going to have to spend vast amounts of time and money for little return. If that is the case, I need to look at something else.
Has anyone here used any of the pre-made systems advertized by some verimiculture websites? What is the success rate and return? Who are the primary markets? How difficult is it to get and maintain steady sales?
Any help you can provide would be appreciated.
