Snails? - 2009/01/18 22:56 Has anyone had snails visit their worm bin?

I have a worm factory that I have had going for the past year. Things have been stable after some initial trouble and my worms seem pretty happy. Recently I had noticed a few snails, the really small ones with swirly shells. While there were few at first, they really started to multiply. I added a fair amount of egg shells so there is no lack of calcium carbonate for them to make shells. I picked out about 40 of them in the past few days, and there's lots more. I think they might outnumber my worms at this point.

Anyone have suggestions on getting rid of them? I tried some of the iron phosphate bait, though I'm concerned how the worms will handle it.

Re:Snails? - 2009/01/19 12:27 I would not do a thing, unless it bothered you. The I would just pick them out and toss outside. Susan Quinby-Honer
