Need plans for wood bin - 2009/02/28 22:59 Does anyone know where I can find some plans/instructions on how to build a wood bin like the worm factory? I would be glad to pay for the plans.
Thanks,

Re:Need plans for wood bin - 2009/03/01 07:50 why notjust build severial trays using compound miters at the corners this would taper the sides so they would be stackable inside one another add some 1/4 x1/2 " strips aroundthe perimiter to limit the depth of overlap add 1/4 " hardware cloth to the bottom held on with glue and some more .25x.5 strips of wood as for the bottom section if you get this far you can design it yourself good luck with your project

Re:Need plans for wood bin - 2009/03/02 07:50 just think of the bins as stackable like a pile of square soup plates with high sides only made of wood with screened bottoms. hope this helps you visulize it better FEED IT TO THE WORMS

Re:Need plans for wood bin - 2009/03/02 16:59 Great reply, testosterone embedded messages! LOL

I made some simple boxes that just sit on one another, don't slide into each other. But I haven't started it yet, so I can't comment on how they work...

Re:Need plans for wood bin - 2009/03/05 08:28 Liz, I am using old wood apple boxes made of slats all around with an inside corner brace to nail the slats to. They were made to stack for harvesting apples out in the orchard and have carry holes. A nice size to fit most arms.

So far the worms like them. I lined the inside with garden breathable fabric and leave the bottom open for a flow through system. I can manage them three high just fine. Put the first one over a drip tray.

Course I have to stack and unstack to harvest...
