Need help with worm identification - 2009/03/28 10:39 Everytime it rains at night, the next morning, I come out, and under my security light on my driveway, I get thousands, and I mean thousands of these dark green, foul smelling worms all over. The birds will not eat these worms! I have two pictures of these worms to hopefully get an identification on them. They never go anywhere else on the concrete driveway except where my security light is...I live in southeast ohio.

Re:Need help with worm identification - 2009/03/28 15:32 HOLY COW! I am sorry, I have no ID for ya, but that is amazing.

I would definitely try to find out what they are, I would say some sort of North American NC... The foul smelling pat doesn't sound good, but by that picture, I would think you could make a killing selling those as bait...

Any chance you live in an area that was an old farm, or any sort of old waste in the soil?

Re:Need help with worm identification - 2009/03/30 17:18 How long are they?
Are they dead on the driveway?
What is the color of your soil?
This will help to answer your question. They could be a number of species. Color can be variable to soil or surroundings.
And yes, if they are exposed to the sun on a driveway they are dying or dead and are going to stink to high heaven no matter what the species.
You might take a few living worms to your local agriculure extension office and ask a master gardener to ID them.

Re:Need help with worm identification - 2009/04/03 07:32 The worms get up to 4 inches long, maybe 1/8 inch thick and very dark green in color. You can walk outside and smell the worms before you see them and that is when they are alive and moving.
