Re:cereal boxes - 2009/04/10 02:24 yes you can feed the bright colored ink to the worms. It is not toxic and has not been for many years. It erks me every time I find a worm web site that still mention toxic ink.

You might want to research ink types before making claims like this. I have been in the printing industry for 15 years and my father has been in it for almost 40 years. Rubber based and oil based inks( not soy oil based) are made from petroleum. There are also magnetic inks. When in doubt contact actual printer company.

Like I have stated here before, I do not expressed or implied know if any harm will be done to the worms with the above types of inks.

Re:cereal boxes - 2009/04/12 15:15 I think that the food industry has made the change . I even called our local paper and was assured that they use soy based . The lady that told me that had asked for herself since her cat has diabetes and she was concerned . The only thing that I wouldn't trust are those "sale papers" . I'm not sure about that ink since it is that "slick and highly colored" stuff that is printed far away and I never could find out how to contact them . It's really a non-issue since those are just a tiny part of the print media . Tom

Re:cereal boxes - 2009/04/15 03:56 I still stand by my statement that the ink is not toxic. It has not been stated otherwise. Soy based, petroleum based, rubber based or magnetic inks does not necessarily make it toxic.

Re:cereal boxes - 2009/04/15 23:36 The petroleum based inks that I have used have a health rating of 1, that's not exactly safe to me.
You can find alot of info., just goggle petroleum based inks.
