Hi can you guys help me ID a worm? - 2009/05/18 13:53 I live in Massachusetts and commonly go outside with my young daughter to find worms and such for fishing and feeding to her turtle. Lately I've been finding a lot of weird worms that I can't identify and I'm unable to find a field guide or some other method to do so.

The worms are typically found under rocks and are a beige color with a dark stripe down the center. They are very flat, slow and very sticky. They are 1-2 inches long. They creep me out and I don't let her touch them but I’m unable to figure out what exactly they are. Can you help me identify them so I know what they are? IF you’d like, I can e-mail you a photo of one.

Also, are they any online glossaries or field guides for earthworms, flatworms, leaches, etc? I have field guides for insects, spiders, reptiles, amphibians, and birds so far and would like to add more to my collection.

Thanks for any help you can offer, feel free to e-mail me at rhino(dash)lfl(at)hotmail(dot)com ... just fill in the items between the () marks so (dash) would be - and (at) is @ and (dot) is . ...

Regards,

Re:Hi can you guys help me ID a worm? - 2009/05/18 18:34 Hmm, I hadn't noticed them having a shovel nose and the ones I've seen are a far cry from 6 inches long but They could be juviniles. I'll collect one later to compare.

Re:Hi can you guys help me ID a worm? - 2009/05/19 11:02 That sounds mean! Do you think they are edible, are they poisonous? Can my turtle eat them?
