I put about 1 pound of food out in the worm bin for my red wigglers and they are still working on the food. I have more worms than when I started years ago. I have also read that the worms should double in about 2-3 months. No way for me. Now I use a plastic bin with screening on the top and screening on the bottom with it raised so the worms will get air. My question is how can I make this more efficient or what is the best style of homemade worm bin for maximum production and easy harvesting?
Thank you, GB
What size and type of bins to you currently have? What type of bedding are you using?
The populaion may double in 2 to 3 months. It may take longer for you to notice because of the small worms that have hatched out.
It sounds like you have plenty of air flow but how is the moisture in the bin?
