Re:Any Advice PLEASE - Compact Soil and Worms - 2006/05/16 23:01 I have had some good results in compacted areas by using what is known as a 'bulb auger'.
Fits in a drill like a bit, but is 12-18" long and they come in diameters between 1 and 3 inch that I've seen.
I used a 2-incher in my side yard last year, and the plants there have done much better since.
I drilled down to the depth of the flutes about every square foot.
