I tell everybody who will listen that since I started using worm castings on my roses, I've not had any problems with aphids or whitefly. (Of course, I do a lot of other organic techniques to address this, including planting flowers to lure predators.) Last I heard, the preliminary research said that there may be something to this notion that sucking insects find something distasteful in plants that have been fed worm castings.
Certainly can't hurt...
