First of all, may I say I am a big fan of yours. Your insight and contributions to these forums are fabulous.
You have enlightened me on several occasions. Please never stop. You are greatly appreciated.
I also know the individuals behind this website are totally open source and believe as you do in sharing in reliable information as you do in cyberspace.
It is obvious on the information that is uploaded to the website.
Without naming names, the other lists that were previously mentioned are pretty much worthless. I know this to be a fact because I personally attempted to contact some of the sources on these lists. It was pretty bad and a colossal waste of time.
When I first heard the EarthWorm Digest was putting together a list, I thought to myself, excellent!
When I heard they were charging for the list. I thought the same as you did. But, I have to tell you, I am going to reserve my comments until I see what they charge.
I'll tell you why. I will be the first to confess. I am a very busy guy, as probably everyone else is out there who visits this website. I have been visiting this website for the last two years. I read the articles, from time to time and I post on the forums. I have learned alot from people like you and others on this website. The site has continued to get better and I think the main person behind it is very passionate.
But you know what? Don't laugh too hard. I believe in this Karma thing. I have never given back. I have never subscribed to their magazine. I know they have a staff. We all know that there has to be costs involved.
I read earlier here in the general earthworm forum, about a couple of guys who did not like the separate forums. I actually laughed out loud. Forgive me, but common sense tells me, isn't it a good thing for separate forums?
The Digest doesn't pepper me with emails. I think I received one email from them when they launched their store and magazine. I thought the magazine was pricey. But that's me. Call me cheap. I did not check into it. My friend subscribed and they gave him two nights in a nice hotel for subscribing. He said it was worth every penny. He said he would do it again. I'll subscribe in July.
Don't get me wrong. This is not a commercial. Look around us. You can tell. These people are good people. Redhen, if they ask alot for the list, out of silly pride I will be right here next to you in this forum, telling the world, "I am not buying it."
But, if they ask a reasonable price, I'll buy it. Hey redhen, just think if they only ask a couple of bucks. We can both laugh about my post. (Meaning I am off the hook for two dollars. Hey, I am giving back. It's all good. It's karma. Ha-Ha)
It will be my way of saying thank you for taking the time to assist me. I think I am getting to the point that I really want to know who is doing what in the industry.
