Re:Kids Program - 2008/02/24 12:59 Mark,
After re-reading your post I see that in all that hot air I put out there, I didn't answer your original questions:
How did I get started? Do I have a child in school?
Yes I have a son in the 2nd grade. I approached the PTO and the principal with the idea of a student garden club. Approval was given by the school board. I was originally expecting 20 or so kids. We only have 250 in the entire school. Last month I had 50 kids at the meeting! Luckily, I have some good adult helpers.

With the community center group, the director of the center contacted the adult garden club and asked if we'd be interested in doing a youth club. Of course I jumped in but again, we have a good group of volunteers to help.

Go for it! Most schools have an after school program now. You might contact the principal and ask if they might be interested in having you do a worm program for the kids that stay after.
