temperature, pH, moisture content - 2008/05/05 20:56 I am a newbie, VERY excited about starting my herd, and had a few questions.

What would you consider optimal ranges for inside bin temperature, pH, and moisture content? I am using an electronic/digital moisture and pH meter. What has been your experience with using this type of meter? Good, bad, indifferent? How often should I check the bin for temp., moisture, and pH?

I have a 10lb. plastic storage tub set up with 1 lb. of red wigglers on the way to arrive this week. I bedded it with moist, shredded newspaper, a couple handfuls of dried leaves, and a couple handfuls of dirt. I have the tub on my covered porch protected from sun and rain.

Thank you in advance for your advice.
