New to the forum, hello from WI - 2006/01/26 01:34 Hi All!

I bought a lb of ENC over a year ago online and used most of them for fishing. I set some aside to breed like mad and they now fill 3 good size plastic bins. I feed them Mostly Finely Ground chicken egg laying mash feed. Still working on a 50 lb bag i bought a year ago. I also like to crush up egg shells too, they seem to love them. I make sure they get all the coffee grounds, raw veggie scraps, cucumber, spinach and the accasional favorite, Melen rinds and pumkin and squash left overs. butter nut squash seems to really get them going and catalope rinds. I am going to try adding some baking soda as suggested in this forum but am wondering how much is enough. I would like to get to know some of you and hopefully build a relationship with a bigger grower to assist supplying me while I build my worm empire.
I am looking at tapping a few markets with the ENC and think I can make a go of it. any suggestions would be appreciated. These little beauties are like nothing I have ever seen up here in MN/WI. My worms appear very healthy, well fed and extremely active. I am noticing more mating and cocoons. I use ground up news paper and peat moss mixed with a little cow manure (composted) for bedding and have freshened it only a few times and expanded my stock at the same time. other than that all I do is feed them and keep them most and cool in the basement. they are going nuts!! Drop me a note with your worm story. I would love to hear it. I originally found these on eBay and thought I would try to one up my buddies for a fishing trip. I bought some fell in love with them and now they seem to comsume me. These are really cool! Any one have any good idea in how I can use an old barn out here in the wintery cold and still breed worms. Ok now I think I am just rambling. Good to know that I am not the only one out here in love with worms.

Later all,

Bob aka mr.wiggley
