Worm Food
August 7th, 2007 By JP Japan, Food, Really? We all know that Japanese people like to eat fish, but now it seems that a company in Japan’s Aomori Prefecture has decided to take a step further down on the food chain and develop food products made of earthworms. Worms do actually have considerable nutritional value, being rich in vitamins, amino acids and other substances said to be good for the health, including potassium, iron and zinc. All of this may be true, but I think we all would agree that eating is not just about nutrition alone. Worm recipes include worm chips, worm sashimi, worm soup, worm tempura, and worm burgers. For some inexplicable reason, worm foods have not caught on among the general population but fans are hoping that the Japanese will learn to love wiggle burgers in their quest for healthier foods. |
